My professional expertise and background:
Satrajit Sanyal comes from a corporate background with a career spanning 24 years after which he co- founded three not-for-profits and several professional and institutional business ventures working in the fields of skills, employability, human rights and justice and the various tools and mandates of the broader ecology of alternate dispute resolution. A Gender, Social Justice, Peace, Livelihood and Women-led-entrepreneurship enthusiast and evangelist, he has spent a major portion of his professional engagement in the entities that he had promoted doing impactful work in these domains. In his previous profiles he had served with leading business, trade, civil society and quasi-governmental organisations and associations handling corporate governance & citizenship, civil& human rights, harassment prevention, anti-trust laws, conciliation & mediation and industrial & government advisory portfolios, where he has extensively had to use mediation, conflict resolution and conciliation as tools to reach desired outcomes. An enthusiast of Justice, Human Rights, CSR and corporate governance, he has studied the relevant laws and often advised his clients and beneficiaries in the above-mentioned areas. His studies in mediation has been an ongoing process for many years and includes both formal studies & certifications as well as his personal research. He is a great supporter of the precepts, principles and people who were instrumental behind the formation of the World Mediation Organisation.
My professional vision as a member of WMO:
As a professional in the field of alternative legal practices, and as a social entrepreneur engaged in senior practices with various international partner organisations, my future as a member of WMO would be threefold: 1. Creating awareness and a need for adopting the practice of Mindful Mediation to resolve conflicts effectively in social, inter-faith, inter-cultural, commercial, trade, business and other ecologies where it can serve the purpose of reaching a just and dynamic outcome without excessive time and cost being involved for any of the parties. 2. Advocating knowledge-driven activities in eco-systems where I have reach, to create scope for such research and development activities which could both act as a professional set of opportunities for the members as well as help WMO emerge as the thought & knowledge leader in mediation intercontinentally. 3. Help evangelize WMO as a inter-connected, inter- disciplinary query solutions platform, specifically in ADR, in such geography where there might be a felt need but no agency to deliver such results that may match the requirement.
