Wolves and mediation
The majority who reads the title of the text is probably wondering what is the connection between the wolves pack and the mediation? For those who know little about this animal, we will outline some interesting facts. Wolves mostly live in a pack that makes up about 20 individuals. They represent a very organized community, which is why they are very old animals today. Pack is led by an Alpha male and an Alpha female who arranges and runs all of them. The task of other males is finding food, hunting and safe keeping the pack. The newborn wolf keeps the mother while the other females keep the litter, they bring food. During the day they cross 35 kilometers.
They move organized. At the beginning of the column are the oldest members of the pack and they make to the rest of the society path for movement through the wilderness. If it happens that some of the oldest members are attacked during the trip, they sacrifice himself for the benefit of the younger members of the pack. Behind are five of the strongest and youngest members who make up some sort of scout. In the middle of the column are females and at the end five of the strongest wolves who keep near the column.
Among the wolves one member is in charge of teaching the younger skills needed for survival. Like any organization that makes up more individuals, it happens that there is disagreement and conflict. In order to survive as a community, it is necessary to preserve peace. If two or more members are in the conflict clash one is in charge of establishing peace and order. This is done by stopping the conflict and by the reconciliation of members who are in conflict. The human eye, when looking at the process of reconciliation of peacekeepers, observes it in a kind of ritual, visiting one side and the other, trying to calm them down.
I highly recommend numerous documentaries on wolves recorded by National Geography. There are also packets of wolves living in isolated conditions and kept by people. Numerous examples of artificial packs in the Nordic countries and America. Expeditions are being expedited to accompany this fascinating animal and under natural conditions by recording the way of their lives in order to be protected from oblivion. Because they are special, they are characterized by their commitment to the group – pack, loyalty collectivism, love. There was also a case of a pack that was left without an Alpha female. The rest of the packets died from sorrow. Wolves are very sensitive animals. There is no case of attacking people unless they are ill. They are very shy, scared and alive retreated. Thanks to the fascinating organization, wolves like race exist for a very long time.
The functionality of the pack and the role of each member is important for its survival. The central figure in preserving the order of this animal organization are the wolves who are in charge of the peace and order of so-called Peacekeepers in the pack.
Let’s also point out that there is a line of breeds that is a very close relative of wolves, the so-called primitive breeds that are genetically very similar to wolves but dumb and adapted for life with humans.
As one of the species of the German shepherd, who has a working dog, there is about 40% of the wolf’s DNA. It is characterized by the impeccable organization of the day, working habits that are adopted as puppets, are very attached to the owner, protect their territory and are very devoted. If they notice that a member of their human family is sad or in a bad mood, they make every effort to make them laugh and return to a state of calm. Science and practice has shown that dogs have a very positive impact on the psycho-physical condition of a man.
In the context of mediation, we come to the conclusion that there are examples of conflict resolution in the animal world. Wolves are considered one of the most organized animal societies. Thanks to the peace-building process when there is a dis-balance of the role of the wolf peacemaker it is multifaceted.
Not only he makes a peace but he makes the community compact and therefore strong. We emphasize the importance of unity in the wild and the hostility living conditions, so the group’s compactness is directly related to its survival.
Peacekeepers are mediators among people. When we have situation that Homo homini lupus es (Man is a man’s wolf) , the mediator is a Wolf Peacemaker to individuals and groups in a human society with an important mission of establishing peace and survival.
